A taste for gummi bears started everything in spring 2017. When looking through the ingredient list, the colorant being used for the green gummi bears was spirulina. Looking further into it, we found that because of its intense green-blueish color pigments, spirulina was mainly being used for food coloring. However, spirulina had exceptional nutritional values and could be a powerful source of many key nutrients. So much so, that it could even become an effective means of combatting malnutrition.

That was what we wanted to do: bring spirulina to places where people struggled with malnutrition due to a limited access to food and a one-sided diet, use it to upgrade their meals and thereby sustainably improve their health and well-being.
